Superbugs watchdog will have power to close hospitals. A new hospital watchdog could close hospitals within 24 hours as part of the fight against superbugs, the Department of Health announced.

The Care Quality Commission will have the power to shut down wards and entire hospitals, carry out inspections, and fine health care providers. For the first time, the new regulator will also have powers over private hospitals and healthcare providers.Read more about the SUPERBUGS WATCHDOG here.

SOLDIERS RETURNING WITH BRAIN INJURY FROM IRAQ

Undiagnosed brain injury – the hidden legacy of Iraq.

The Ministry of Defence is conducting a major study into brain injury in troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan amid fears that thousands of soldiers may have suffered damage after being exposed to high-velocity explosions.

The US army says as many as 20% of its soldiers and marines have suffered “mild traumatic brain injury” (mTBI) from blows to the head or shockwaves caused by explosions.

I hope the study is not done by my big friend, otherwise they will spend years denying the stuff as that is routine policy where he works.
